I am reminded of the last line of the movie Patton where the voiceover of his thoughts as he walks through the countryside describe a Roman General coming home in triumph. It describes the procession of captured slaves proceeding him as he rides on his chariot. And standing behind him on the chariot is another slave who whispers in his ear the reminder that “All glory is fleeting.”
If you think you are important, stick your finger into a glass of water and take it out and look at the impression you make.
