I’ve tried that and it hasn’t worked yet.

A thought has just occured to me. Sally’s school is making the girls wear dresses, it’s true, but we haven’t heard anything from the boys yet. Are they wearing some kind of uniform as well? If not, why not? It’s only fair.

Sorry Peppermint Patty, I tried something like that on my birthday. It still sucked.

Most days are like that with my current job.

When I was in elementary school back in the stone age, girls had to wear dresses and skirts. But we all wore shorts underneath so we could play at recess without boys looking at our underwear. And since there were no gym uniforms in elementary school, it made it easy to remove your skirt and be ready for gym class. So…Patty…just wear shorts under your dress…pretend the dress is a long shirt. You’ll survive.

When I was in elementary school, the girls had a dress code (with a smock of sorts), the boys didn’t. Different times indeed. Nowadays she could sue the school board for discrimination.

I wish. But then, my bladder always wins the argument and I have to get up.

In Catholic grade school back when I took the 8:00 dinosaur to school, both boys and girls wore a uniform. When I went to my all-boys Catholic High School we had a dress code (slacks, shirt, tie, and jacket) but no uniform. The all-girls Catholic High School had uniforms.

The school is now coed and has a spelled-out dress code.

When I was in high school, the boys couldn’t wear jeans or pull-over shirts and the girls had to wear dresses or skirts. They finally relaxed that when I was a senior. (PS – this was the mini-skirt era, so the dress code was fine with me!)

If only!

I feel your pain Patty. Never been a big fan of dress codes. The work place can be just as bad, although it’s more relaxed now than 20 years ago. I was once told by a supervisor that “I needed to save my personality for the weekend” I told her “my personality was too big for just 2 days” LOL!

If you stay in bed long enough it will.

In my senior year of high school, 1970 – 1971, the dress code forbade girls from wearing slacks. One day that year, the girls organized and many of them wore slacks. The principal got on the PA system and told everyone there were “proper” channels for changing the code. Still within a month, the dress code was rewritten and slacks were permissible. And that was the most radical the student body got while I was a student there.

Don’t.

we couldn’t wear t-shirts without a pocket. one guy bought several white regular underwear t-shirts and then he sewed black pockets on all of them big enough to hold a pack of cigarettes. principle simply shook his head and went back to his office when he saw him wear one. course most of our ‘dress code’ had to do with the length of hair, beard and mustache issues for guys and dress, skirt length for gals.

It’s a fickle world, Patty, which worries about your shoes. Same was true in the school where I was. Jeans for boys, dresses for girls all years no matter hot, cold/windy. No shorts, no sandals.

Girls shouldn’t be obligated to wear dresses. You do you Patty you be your own woman.

I remember having to wear dresses…I also remember getting in trouble because my mother put snow pants on me underneath my dress. I was in 2nd grade.
