I really miss the United States where we concentrated on common goals rather than on politically contrived/ exaggerated differences that serve party not country. Happy Thanksgiving fellow Americans.
Never talk about religion or politics at dinner. This is true even for people who pretty much agree about the subjects. We could also remember that we all live on the same little blue planet.
Increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour and index it to median wage growth thereafter — 40 million Americans get a raise, and $100 billion is pumped directly into our economy.
Medicare-for-all — The Senate has a four-year phase-in period plan to help guarantee health care for every man, woman and child.
Bold actions to combat climate change — Shift our energy system away from fossil fuels and toward energy efficiency and renewable energy. We can lead the planet in combating climate change and, in the process, create millions of good paying jobs.
Fix our broken criminal-justice system — End the absurdity of the United States having more people in jail than any other country on Earth. Invest in jobs and education for our young people, not more jails and incarceration.
Comprehensive immigration reform — More than 11 million workers in America are undocumented. Let’s sign them up, and their employers too.
Progressive tax reform — Require wealthy people and large corporations to pay their fair share of taxes. It is unacceptable that there are large, extremely profitable corporations in this country that do not pay a nickel in federal income taxes.
A $1 trillion infrastructure plan — Creating 15 million good-paying jobs to work on our outdated electric grid, spotty broadband, sometimes toxic drinking water, dilapidated levees, dams, and bridges, and crumbling state highways.
Make public colleges and universities tuition-free, along with trade schools, and substantially reduce student debt — Without the best-educated workers in the world, we cannot possibly keep up in the highly competitive global economy.
Expand Social Security — Requiring the wealthiest Americans — those making more than $250,000 a year — pay their fair share of Social Security taxes will extend its solvency for the next 60 years.
Tonight I go to Turkey dinner with Republicans. No problems. I do get a kick out of my friend though. He is a true Trumpster and he makes us all say grace. If he had his way, he’d have all brown people bombed and shot – just like Jesus.
I agree with Guy’s points. I don’t know about other places, but where we live there is nothing for teens to do. No roller rinks, no basketball courts, no sock hops, no bowling alleys. OK, some of these sound pretty old-fogy-ish, but I’m an old fogy, myself. The point is there’s nothing for the kids to do except think up mischief. More recreation, less jail time.

A highly dysfunctional one. Time (actually well past time) for an intervention.

Well, I’ve always heard you can’t choose your family. I guess that’s why I spend the holidays with friends.

The only argument my family had at Thanksgiving dinner was over the Lions and the Bears and whoever they were playing.

Alternate interpretation of the cartoon, which I hope (and suspect) is not what Tom intended:
“OK, let’s carve up and devour the Constitutional government.”
