The Senate had 35 seats up for grabs; the Democrats were defending 29 and held most of them plus a pick-up. More important, there were ALMOST TEN MILLION MORE VOTES for Democratic Senate candidates last night (due to larger margins and larger states where they did win).
In 2020, it will be reversed. It will be REPUBLICANS who are defending the most seats — INCLUDING Mitch McCONNELL who is up for re-election in 2020 — and he can read the tea leaves.
In the House, the Democrats had a LARGER PERCENTAGE GAIN to pick up 37 seats than the Republican Tea Party gain of 63 seats in 2010, but the difference is the gerrymandering. With Colorado, Missouri and Michigan passing anti-gerrymandering laws by initiative last night, and many governorships (who will have to approve redistricting maps) of red states turning blue, Republican gerrymandering after the 2020 census will be much more difficult.
This guy is a former U.S. attorney that used his resume to con and then intimidate clients after he cheated them out of their life savings. His behavior represents every bad joke and negative quip traditionally aimed at lawyers – not a deal breaker, though. Lots of bad men have headed the Justice Dept., what’s one more?
What we have never before suffered is an Attorney General who openly refutes one of our most important founding principles:
The rule of law in America.
Formally established in 1803 by the Marbury v. Madison case, ‘rule of law’ permanently cemented the judicial branch’s role as interpreter of the Constitution and the guardian of citizens’ rights. The sanctity of Marbury v. Madison and the rule of law is no more in question (for rational Americans) than the Bill of Rights is.

Yes, trump is not really as happy about the elections as he said he was. There are still many votes to be counted. Stacey Abrams is close to a recount. Gillum is close to a recount. Nelson is close to a recount. And Rick Scott has not been this scared since he found out he couldn’t kill Harry Potter.
Whitaker and Pence should get along just great. Whitaker’s on record as saying that nobody should ever be a judge in this country unless he (not “he or she”, just “he”) is a Christian.
The 5 Rules of Tяump (and indeed all Republican) Watching:
1) Know that everything he says is a lie, until clearly proven otherwise.
2) Know that whatever he calls “fake news” is in fact true.
3) Know that he himself is doing whatever he accuses others of doing.
4) Know that anything he says or does is motivated purely by narrow self-interest. Any benefit to the country will be only incidental, and the damage yuugely consequential.
5) Know that anything he does that is clearly NOT in his self-interest is the result of his abject and impulsive stupidity.
