If the assignment is “What do you want to do when you grow up,” you just finished the dumb assignment.

That makes sense.

I’d give him a good grade for that.

and how does Calvin plan on skipping the dumb assignment? by erasing Miss Wormwood’s lesson plan?

The kid is definitely destined to be a fiction writer of some sort.

You already tried that once, Calvin. It didn’t work, remember?

If he was smart, the future Calvin would bring back the assignment, so that this one wouldn’t have to write it.

I have a better idea. Create a duplicator machine and have your duplicate make the assignment for you.

Why not just go to tomorrow first and find Suzie’s test, then bring it back and use it today?

Got your own desk, huh. I had the floor and a candle. And I had to walk to school up hill and home up hill. And through snow 6 feet deep. During a blizzard. At night. Barefoot. You’re spoiled!

Which obviously never happened as he is still writing the letter.

Why not just skip to the future and give himself an A+? Isaac Asminov’s got nothing on Calvin.

What’s going on here, why isn’t Hobbes doing this assignment?

This has always been one of my favorites…I generally love Calvin’s homework/test question strips.

I remember a story from “The Vault of Horror” comic (might’ve been “The Crypt of Terror”) when I was in my teens…A guy went back into the past, stepped on a seed and crushed it, a whole oak forest didn’t grow, and he came back to a Europe occupied by Indians (the North America kind, not the Asia kind). Please don’t tell our mom that my brother and I ever read these comics.

Think of poor Calvin, forced to live in a world where the Calvin and Hobbes comic doesn’t exist. Maybe he can go back in time and create it?
