If it moves and it shouldn’t – duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should – WD-40.

This is part on my theological thesis that God does not have a gender. If God were a woman would she invent PMS and labor pains. God could not be a man since the universe is not held together with duck tape. (Yes, the “correct” etymology is “duck” not “duct” although both are used.)

As a former submarine mechanic, I have to add 2 items.

    Vise Grips® and a hammer.

In the movie “Grand Torino”. Clint Eastwood’s character, Walt Kowalski, famously said, “Take these three items right here. You can have this. WD-40, vise grips, and some duct tape. Any man worth his salt can do half the household chores with just those three things.”

I’ve recently used Gorilla Tape for a couple things and find it better than duck tape. I want me some of that 100mph or 90mph tape, though. :)

Tape is good for most stuff but sometimes you need baling wire or the modern day equivalent: nylon cable ties.

The Army taught me that you can fix any thing with the proper placement of high explosives. Or a bigger hammer.
