If that rake was lying on the ground and you stepped on it, it would not hit you in the face. I contend, therefore, that it is out of place in a humorous comic.
Nancy is always a creative, thinking young lady. Attempting to equate Halloween fears in a way to negate chores…. GREAT ATTEMPT….. but Aunt Fritzi knows you like a book! You are going to need to ramp up your creativity to get anything past her. :)
