Oh, how the the citizenry has fallen!

Got out of the city over 50 years ago, good move. Find it funny when the news says a city of 50,000 is still a “small town”.

Now is the Autumn of our discontent made gloriously deciduous by this van in New York.

How much per leaf?

I laughed until I remembered that in about 3 weeks or so, I’ll have enough leaves in my yard to supply the population of a small treeless city. Step up, Folks!! Getcher free leaf samples here! And we’ll present our new fall line AGAIN in November. Be there!!

Should be Wiley Bears selling the leaves

I have repeated “they paved paradise and….” many times in reference to our rural community which is being paved over little by little bits at a tome.

Obviously he doesn’t have to rake the damned things.

The beauty of living in Southwestern Idaho (and a lot of other places) is Autumn comes to me.

A week from today, I will be on the Appalachian Trail. I’ll take all your envy now. :)

Fall leaves fall leaves we all fall for fall leaves!

Hmmm, what song does the fall leaf truck play? Autumn leaves?

When you believe everything you read in your local paper…

I love my little 11 acres. Only a half hour to the city.

Wait until I show up with my food truck selling “Hedge Apples”

After all those years of raking all of those leaves (in between the seasons of cutting the grass under them and shoveling all of the snow around them), I’m happy to just sit on my high rise condo patio, drink in hand, and admire the carpet of fall colors below.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, our plans to go to New England for the Fall Foliage had to be cancelled. My wife has never been to the States and has no idea – except from pictures – how beautiful New England can be in the Fall.

I grew up in Connecticut and went to college in Vermont, and while I don’t miss raking them, I do miss the vibrant colors of the leaves.

Next year….the Good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise !

Botanically speaking, those fall colors have been there all along, only visuallly overwhelmed by the sunshine-drunk chlorophyll.

Reminds me of Walkers finding a still fully living human, or an estate sale.

Despite being surrounded by trees, I still like to go out and collect a few of the stunning red maple and oak leaves and stuff them into books.
