Now imagine if this homework was graded for completion, instead of correct answers.

if the phonograph were invented in Mozart’s time, he’d use the device to weasel out of piano (or harpsichord?) lessons

Calvin, if they give points for honesty, you get a gold star. But if your teacher grades for effort, well, you are kind of a lost cause.

With one digit numbers, you don’t really calculate it. You either memorize it or look it up in table they hopefully gave you.

Wow, Stupendous Man had a short debut arc. Too bad Watterson always used him in such small doses. This strip’s pretty funny, though!

I tried that once on a test question. The teacher gave me one point for honesty but took off one point for laziness. I was so proud of getting one point for honesty that I bragged about it for years.

(If this post counts as bragging, then I guess I’d better make that “decades”.)

It’d be a lot funnier if I actually didn’t get that as answers… from high school students, no less…

I hated math, didn’t understand it. Then the other day, I had to go on line and re-learn X’s and Y’s for something. You can’t get away from it. It took me a dozen tries to get the problem solved.

I was in a computer programming course. The teacher showed us some code, and called our attention to a specific line. He asked what was the value of a variable at that point in the program. Seeing the variable had not been initialized, I raised my hand and said “I don’t know.” He said “Right answer!”

I never liked homework. In Finland they don’t either. To them if it is school work to do it in school not home.
