And if you finally do pick a place, the other person says they don’t like going there.

No matter what you pick, she will say she does not want to go there, but she will not make her own suggestion. After all the years of marriage, he knows he is wrong either way.

Maybe you should approach it from the other direction and find out where you don’t want to go. Usually works for me and my partner.

They should eat at a Waffle. House. They’re waffling.

I once felt I should do something about all the apathy among young people. But in the end I didn’t care that much.

We used to have a restaurant named The Other Place. You could see where that headed.

We eat out once a week or so, and in eight years we have not had a conversation like this.

We have some favorite places, and also like to try a new place once in awhile. Works for us.

For my wife and I, it used to be Swiss Chalet as the compromise. Then she didn’t want to go there any more, tried a few places, then have ended back at SC again.

I always win this argument. When left up to me to choose, I always, always choose Wendy’s …… I hate Wendy’s, but so does my wife, so she always has to choose where to go!! Haven’t eaten at Wendy’s in 20 years.

I’ll ask my wife where she wants to go to eat, she says it doesn’t matter. I’ll say KFC and she’ll say she doesn’t want to eat there.

Okay Mr. Crane, are you hiding in our “Room of Requirements”? You’re 2 for 2 this week on getting conversations right in our house. Spooky.

Do what I do: Call out names of places until nobody says no, and then go there.

Where I live, small sidewalk and bodega restaurants are more ubiquitous than yellow taxis. Seems like everyone in the neighborhood either has a little tienda ( small grocery store ) or is selling food. You don’t have far to walk to find good food at very reasonable prices.

Here, the discussion is more "What do you feel like eating ? " than "Where do you want to eat ? "

I keep warning my wife that she’s going to suffer a huge sticker shock when we go to the States and eat out. We’ve got a Chili’s restaurant at the local Mall the is rarely busy – not because the food is bad ( It’s pretty good, standard Chili’s fare ) – but because the prices are gringo prices comparable to the States !

Even though I’m a picky eater, I can usually find something in almost any restaurant. My family and friends are more picky about where we eat, so I insist they pick the restaurant. If they insist that I pick, I deliberately pick a place they hate. They refuse, and I tell them that is why they have to pick. One friend will only drink Diet Coke, won’t eat chicken or fish, but she wants me to pick. Nope, not gonna do it.
