When Republican Senator Bob Corker was asked about the reports of an impulsive, unqualified, unstable man-boy who had to be blocked by staffers from really dangerous actions, Corker said, “There is nothing new here, we’ve all known that since Day One.” THEY ALL KNOW. EVERYONE KNOWS except the dumbest and most gullible suckers of the Trump scams.
And that was before the second bombshell hit, by an unnamed senior administration official warning of the dangers, chaos, incompetence and corruption in the White House by an out-of-control monster.
All the denials by the White House ring very, very hollow when a top investigative reporter like Woodward, with impeccable credentials, who has “hundreds of hours” of recordings of his calls with sources, is backed up by top insiders. The tell-all’s by Omarosa, Michael Wolff (Fire & Fury) and others may have less credibility standing alone, but when they also claim to be backed up by tapes, and all the accounts tell a consistent story, there is not just smoke, the fire is roaring and it is going to burn us all if it is not put out.
This comic is too perfect an eclipse of reality. It’s like Tina Fey’s impression of Sarah Palin; no script necessary, they already wrote it themselves!
As much as they would like to have you believe otherwise, Trump IS the face of the Republicans and their policies. All of them need to be stomped out on Election Day.
It has occurred to me that the elephant symbol for the GOP is somewhat ironic, given the GOP’s record on issues related to people-of-color (specifically, African-Americans). Elephants are either of African or Indian origin. Perhaps a better symbol would be an American hog.
The truly shocking thing here is not that #45 is an idiot with poor self-control and malignant narcissism — we knew that. It is that the GOP finds him convenient. They think they can take advantage of him — and they have. They have passed any number of horrific laws, while #45 distracts people for them. THEY are the traitors to this country.
Look at the tyranny of party — at what is called party allegiance, party loyalty — a snare invented by designing men for selfish purposes — and which turns voters into chattles, slaves, rabbits, and all the while their masters, and they themselves are shouting rubbish about liberty, independence, freedom of opinion, freedom of speech, honestly unconscious of the fantastic contradiction; and forgetting or ignoring that their fathers and the churches shouted the same blasphemies a generation earlier when they were closing their doors against the hunted slave, beating his handful of humane defenders with Bible texts and billies, and pocketing the insults and licking the shoes of his Southern master.
To lodge all power in one party and keep it there is to insure bad government and the sure and gradual deterioration of the public morals.
“There is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress."
“Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.”
“All Congresses and Parliaments have a kindly feeling for idiots, and a compassion for them, on account of personal experience and heredity.”
“Conservatism is the blind and fear-filled worship of dead radicals.”
“There’s one way to find out if a man is honest: ask him; if he says yes, you know he’s crooked.”
TECH-nically, the president doesn’t “pass” anything, he signs bills into law. Presidents can influence legislation, whether they themselves introduced it or not, but one of the singular things about Trumpo is his almost total lack of actual legislative agenda. Talking vaguely about “a wall” and “infrastructure” and “renegotiating” trade deals and “repealing and replacing Obamacare” is just word magic. None of that has come to pass. Pulling out of trade deals is not constructive (ask the cheese makers).
The heavy lifting for the give-away to America’s wealthiest citizens was all in the congress, and there’s abundant evidence that Trumpo himself had hardly any idea what was in the bill when he signed it. Possibly he actually believed that it would boost the well being of “the middle class” and jump-start an economy that was already roaring, as it has been since 2010 or so.
This is one of the cartoons I would have liked to post to Facebook. But when I select that option, the top part is cutoff so people would have to actually click on it to see the whole thing. Is that my settings or do others have the same issue?
