Charles Grassley is running a kangaroo court (or a Kavanaughroo court) because he knows that this morally vapid, unqualified extremist could never be confirmed if regular order is followed. He has to rush this through without providing 90% of the relevant White House documents (the withholding of which under “executive privilege” is unprecedented), and even the 42,000 pages they finally provided were dumped on them the night before the hearing, on a holiday, with no chance to review them.

What are they trying to hide?

Yeah, “justice delayed is justice denied,” but hearings rushed through so fast no one can examine the evidence is also justice perverted and obstructed … before giving someone a lifetime appointment.

And we already know they prove that Kavanaugh is utterly biased and partisan (for a Democratic president he was the top aide to Ken Starr who spent $70 million dollars investigating Bill Clinton and GOT NOTHING, but when a Bush or Trump REPUBLICAN is in the White House, he writes opinions that it is not legal to do to a Republican what he did to a Democrat.

Further, during his confirmation hearing to his present seat 10+ years ago, he was asked about his involvement in the ILLEGAL and immoral Bush torture policies, and Kavanaugh, under oath, said he did not have any involvement in that and knew nothing about it. Later memos were uncovered that proved that he not only DID know about it, he was smack in the middle of discussions about it — Kavanaugh had LIED UNDER OATH.

The fact that the current Republicans on the committee don’t dismiss his nomination out of hand proves utter contempt for judicial integrity, for which they have relinquished any moral authority on the subject of perjury.

At this point, we are no longer a republic, not united in any sense, unable to work for common causes. Checks and balances are just a historic relic. The predetermined result of the hearing shows that. When “representatives” ignore the best interests of the country, refusing to compromise or cooperate, putting party ideology above the country’s needs, there is no hope for “we the people”. Our “representatives” seem to have completely transformed a republic into a kleptocracy.

I can’t stand to watch that shot in the groin to any decent person, so I don’t know what questions are being asked. I have heard that his responses are either “I won’t discuss hypotheticals” or “I won’t discuss an active case”. If you look at one of those as negative numbers, and one as positive numbers, the domain of those questions he will answer lies between, at ZERO.

I would like to hear his response to the question, “On what part of the Constitution do you base your assertion that the president should be above the law?”

20 years from now the Repubs will hold all of the rural Midwest and sparsely populated states. They will hold the Senate with about 35% of the population. When they hold the senate a they will invoke the "Mitch McConnell rule that they will never vote on a supreme court nominee if a Dem is in the white house. In essence they will rule a dwindling supreme court and senate with a minority of votes. The Dems will hold the white house and the House and will be able to get nothing done. That is when the government will shut down and the rumblings of revolt will start.

With the comments and toons coming down, it needs to be noted the most petulant child in the room was holding the gavel, while those trying to follow the rules, the adults, were on the minority side…

I have just sent the following messages to my 2 US Senators from Wisconsin, Ron Johnson® and Tammy Baldwin (D):

Recommended reading before you vote on Brett Kavanaugh for a lifetime appointment to the US Supreme Court:

    (1) Advise and Consent, a novel by Allen Drury that describes a Senator who delves deeply into the character of a nominee for a high federal position before voting against his confirmation; it won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1960.

    (2) Profiles in Courage, biographical sketches by then-Sen. John F. Kennedy about his predecessors in the Senate who put patriotism ahead of partisanship, popular passions, or their personal political careers; it won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography in 1957.

    Only to Sen. Johnson:

If you yourself aspire to be in the next edition of Profiles in Courage, I suggest that you have an opportunity before you by voting against Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation. I strongly recommend that, for the good of the country, and to preserve the role of the Legislative Branch in the separation of powers, you eschew letting the current occupant of the White House select his own jury.

    Only to Sen. Baldwin:

I strongly recommend that, for the good of the country, and to preserve the role of the Legislative Branch in the separation of powers, you eschew letting the current occupant of the White House select his own jury. Further, since Judge Kavanaugh poses a significant threat to women’s health in the country, a subject I know is near and dear to your heart, I urge you to prevail upon your fellow female Senators — especially the Republicans — to stand up for your half of the American populace.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky called for a vigorous confirmation process to “thoroughly examine his record to ensure he understands that the role of a jurist in our democracy is to apply the law even-handedly, despite their own feelings or personal or political preferences.”

Just kidding, that is what that old hypocrite said about Justice Sotomayor, he wants this done as fast as possible with no information to be looked in to.
