Before his cataract surgery, Hubby was just shy of legally blind without his glasses. One bitter cold afternoon, he walked to the parking lot, got in the car and turned on the heater. Driving along, his metal-rim glasses warmed up and both lenses fell out into his lap. Fortunately, he was already in the curb lane, so he was able to turn on the flashers and stop long enough to pop the lenses back in place.
Maybe he has the same problem I have of a Macular Hole in one eye……still hard to see with the air bubble bouncing around in there and a cataract rapidly forming. Old age is NOT for the weak.
I’ve had that happen. Kind of frightening since I have a family history of strokes. It’s not obvious. At first things just look funny, your brain compensates for the poor eyesight in one eye. Then you notice one eye has blurred sight. It takes a while to discover a lens is missing. It’s just not something that you expect.

(farsighted with a massive amount of astigmatism, I had monofocal contacts – one distance lens, and one close up lens.) During the month of my surgery, I found myself rooting around in a drawer full of old eyeglasses. When I finally found something that worked, I’d already had the first surgery. I ended up wearing glasses frames with just one lens. Got a few comments when I was out in public. The best was at the grocery, where some kind soul insisted she’d seen my missing lens on the floor in the produce department.
