I used to work in a remedial math lab at a community college. Was working with a student on a section about percentages and she was giving me the usual “why do I need to know this stuff”. She was a bit older than traditional students so I asked her if she had a job. She said yes. I then asked her how she knew the pay she received each week was the right amount. She got real thoughtful and then went back to working on the problems with a bit more dedication than before.
Also known as subjective reality: Reality is what you believe it to be. As pointed out in the strip, objective reality is the real deal, no matter what you believe (think “flat earth”, among many others).
