Once the leaves were re-raked, we’d move them out to the street and then burn them. One of the unique smells of autumn. Is anyone still allowed to do that? (Someone In Authority deemed leaf-burning to be carcinogenic, so nowadays it’s against the law.) Sad.

Its still summer and so hot and dry the trees are dying and need to shed their leaves. The grass should be brown not green.
