Rockn - yup, as a joke. You do remember humor, don’t you? Did you see the comic where the woman ordered a fudge sundae with croutons on top? She said that THEN she could call it a salad. See? Humor.
Canuck - the child’s PARENTS are responsible for raising their children, NOT the government. Maybe in Communist Canuckland you are too stupid to do so, but keep your face out of our business. Go drown in your OWN bile, quietly. No offense to intelligent Canadians intended.
Wonder how many kids will throw away the food they don’t like. I’m guessing that there will be a lot of thrown away and a waste of money for the tax payers.
this is a new incursion of the federal government into the domain of parental responsibility to make decisions for the children they brought into the world.
it is totalitarian control and violates God-given Rights of citizens.
Has Michelle or any Leftist promoting Nanny government
(which Sarah Palin is wise enough to oppose, God bless Sarah Palin)
ever checked into the amount (tons and tons) of school lunch/breakfast/supper food that the Kids refuse to eat?
*PS….as a cancer survivor for 12 years, I know that in 1998 the Cancer Society was promoting the inclusion of tomatoes in a cancer patient’s diet….and they said we should eat tomatoes IN ANY FORM, including CATSUP, to get the element that fights cancer formation.
To the nation who invented McDonalds and hot dogs from the nation who invented Tim Hortons and poutine (and doggy-poutine);
Ther should be a difference here between an encouragement to do the right thing and a rule that outlaws the bad thing. There are many programs around elections to encourage people to vote and nobody sees that as tyrrany (I guess nobody makes money from people not voting), and everyone knows there is a diference between that and making vote mandatory.
Nobody here is talking about unishing people who go to fast foods, not even giving credits for parents to buy their children healthy food. Much ado about nothing.
Kids will eat by following their parent’s example. Which is exactly why today’s kids eat junk food and pack on the pounds. When kids are offered GOOD food at school, studies have shown that they will pick it, if not ruined in their choices at home. “Fast Food Nation” is FAT food nation- which includes portion size- since when is HUGE a viable choice for soft drinks to go along with GIGANTIC for a burger, with a side of fries that require a pickup truck to pack from the counter??
You can’t even ORDER a “small” anything any more- it’s medium or above.
Curious to know how my parents, both raised in abject poverty during the Great Depression survived without any government intervention. In the rural South not much aid reached the hinterlands; perhaps the TVA was the only exception.
I have a great idea, perhaps fish ma and monkey face will approve. Let’s place everyone on collective farms and then we can feed everyone. Let’s completely raze the country and create a Marxist polity of fairness and equitable rewards. My wife will be eager to assist given that she spent most of her life in the Soviet Union. NOT!
Also; unemployed people become depressed sooner or later (they feel useless!), useless people turn to junk food, for many reasons 9including for comfort, like others turn to booze or drugs). The children of those depressed people take on the eating habits of their parents.

yes, it is the parent’s responsibility to feed their children, but if they’re not getting any income i’ll bet they’re glad someone will feed them…

the racist old white guys that run my school district would gladly feed the Hispanic students old newspapers if they could.
we have rules and regulations to protect people who can’t protect themselves, like children at public schools run by racist old white guys.
I’m sure you appreciate rules and regulations that govern the doctor that operates on your husband/wife.
give me a break and stop trying to spread fear and hatred to get your way.
