Some things are better left to the pros. I’ve learned the hard way when it comes to plumbing!

The last time a plumber had to unclog my bathtub, he told me to get a wire mesh screen for the drain and switch to liquid soap. That screen catches a lot of hair.

Do a few strokes with the “plumber’s friend”. If no success, then call the plumber.

Could be worse – could be Earl’s toilet.

I watch Youtube to see how to fix the problem. If it looks like it takes more than a 1/2 hour, I’m calling the plumber. Fixed my garbage disposal the other day in less than 5 minutes, after watching a repair video. I thought I was going to have to replace it. The repair was so easy it was laughable.

We had the same problem with laundry sink clogging and the plumber told us most of the problem with laundry sinks is caused by LINT! Our washing machine drains into the sink. We put a cut off nylon stocking over the hose with a clamp and have been amazed by the amount of lint it collects in only a couple of washes.

Lint catcher/traps are really cheap but work. Drain cleaners are corrosive and caustic burns are nasty. A sink plunger is smaller than a toilet plunger but works on the same principle and is cheaper than chemicals in the long run – Google or YouTube how to use one since there’s a simple trick or two with them. It’s easy! Oh wait, I’m supposed to be a modern man whose wife or S.O. is certain that I’m inept and reminds me constantly on so many commercials. Geez. Sorry there, advertisers of products and services I will never even consider.
