She’s not on the phone. Encourage her.

If she starts drawing great pictures at camp, she could make a lot of money from her drawings. Who knows, maybe she could even start drawing cartoon strips one day.

I can see it now. “Nancy’s Heroes,” the wacky exploits of Nancy and her chums at Artstalag 13… ;-)

The first comic book I ever read was “Nancy and Sluggo Summer Camp”, a Dell Giant special from 1960! I recently came across a 3-part detailed recap/review of that issue http://stanleystories.blogspot.com/2011/01/nancy-and-sluggo-summer-camp-special.html Note the story and art is by John Stanley, who had just finished a 14-year run on Little Lulu.

In the first panel, I was a bit shocked and dismayed that the friend was suggesting Aunt Fritzi needed a break from Nancy… but the last panel made it clear why. :)

But, I am in full agreement with Meg that even though it is annoying to have Nancy drawing on the walls…. it is a dramatic improvement…. because Nancy is not immersed in her electronic gizmos only!!!!! It is very important to encourage Nancy to step outside of her gizmo comfort zone.

Nancy’s drawings are interesting from a philosophical sense….she is drawing a bucolic scene of life outdoors…. featuring a lovely sun, her friend Sluggo, flowers and wildlife (the butterfly). In some ways, I was thinking Nancy may have instead drawn a computer or a smart phone. :) Could she secretly be pining for a more philosophical existence as ascribed by Goethe where he had a romantic view of the artistry of nature that Nancy herself, feels she cannot be a part of? If so, Nancy could be in a dark place emotionally as she may be realizing that her gizmos are keeping her from actual experience.

I hope Aunt Fritzi does send her to Art Camp!!!

20 years later “wow nancy why can’t you use this electronic art tablet like literally every other working artist today?”

“well, see, my aunt insisted that I draw only on physical medium to get me away from electronic gizmos. Now I have to scan everything I draw with this device that fell out of 2002 that I barely know how to use, so the only people who will buy my work are randos on fiverr.”

Encourage her. At least that way the house will have something besides blank walls in every room.

Not a value judgement here, but who knew Fritzi had a half sister of mixed phenotype? BTW, Fritzi needs to see a good hair colorist.

This new artist needs to learn how to draw breasts cause this version of Fritzi is not hot.

Ugh, another tech joke. Why isn’t Nancy grinding pigments to make her own colored pastes to paint on the wall with, instead of these newfangled crayons?
