Love Rob Rogers, have followed him for years. Sad to see him leave his long time editorial home and home he quickly finds a new one, but in the meantime his work can still be found here on GoComics:
If you want to support the freedom of the press and great cartoonists like Rob Rogers, do what I did. Go to https://www.gocomics.com/robrogers and buy his book. We can vote in elections, but we also vote with our money. Buy products which support members of the (still) free press who stand up to Il Douche’s BS and his disgraceful adminion-istration!
Joan – Thank you for the link confirming that Rob’s cartoons were the reason for his unexpected departure. Curious, did you read and comprehend the squib?
It is beyond ironic and even a comment on the direction this beloved nation is going that Rob’s cartoon comment on the Charlie Hebdo assault on Jan 7, 2015 was a fist holding a pen and proclaiming “Je suis Charlie”. I got permission from Rob to copy and the picture and apply it to a “T” shirt. He gave me permission if I also made one for him which I did. I hope he wore it the day he was fired.
Admittedly it is wrong to do this, however how many conservatives and their views have been completely squashed in the media because liberals/leftists/progressives/Democrats don’t like what what said?
Yet we have media elite and talking heads making up stories against politically opposing view points, making homophobic statements publicly, shirking their tax responsibilities and it is just nothing to be worried about because they are liberal so it is OK.
As wrong as this is, what bugs me more is the hypocrisy of it all.
And I’ll bet Joan thought it was posting something that would show Rob was not fired for being critical of the Idiot Dictator in the Pig Sty. Well, if that was the idea it certainly backfired.
Here is a link to the picture and what I had printed on the back of the shirt. Liberté d’Expression. https://www.google.com/search?q=french+comic+magazine+attack+Rob+Rogers&rlz=1C1WPZA_enUS784US785&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiQk4_Jn-LbAhVKgK0KHRhlCc8Q7AkIMg&biw=1160&bih=766
The link to Snopes from JS has a rating of “Mostly True” because MOST, but not all, of the cartoons were directly about Trump. One example was the KKK “patient” asking about Ambien. The article also gives some info from Rogers about a lunch he had with new publisher where he was told that editorials, including cartoons, must reflect the philosophy of the publication .
Since JS posts and then deletes, here is the link.
L’IL posts claims about “the left” squashing conservatives with some vague claims of what “the liberals” have said but were excused for. Nothing to back up these claims because then they could be refuted. It is very tiresome to see the “liberal media” claims when the media is corporate owned.
Um, “constitutional guarantees” as in the Bill of Rights relate to the actions of government(s), not private entities.
The Post-Gazette’s objection to Rob Rogers’s cartoons is quite understandable, albeit lamentable, since as far as I can see there has been nothing outlandish or unfair about their content. Indeed, when it comes to “outlandish”, no one can hold a candle to the Vulgar Talking Yam (just quoting Charlie Pierce) in the White House.
Technically this is not a First Amendment issue since it is not a government action. An act of the press is not a restriction of the freedom of the press. That said, TRUMP is an ass.
Freedom of the Press has been damaged because of lax antitrust laws and even worse enforcement of what exists. The media is held in far too few hands and Trump has been helping Sinclair in their attempt to take over Tribune Media (TV and radio, not newspapers). Trump reinstated the outdated UHF law to allow Sinclair to exceed the Congress-mandated cap on how many homes one provider can reach. Local news should have local voices and topics.

Anyone still want to ask how low Trumpies will go to destroy our rights and Constitution?

If our local news carries any Post-Gazette editorials I will remember not to read them. The new editor is just a trump-spreader.

Glad to see that the gentleman is on GoComics. Hope the Post-Gazette loses circulation.

Hi Joan, Based on your previous posts, I don’t need to check to find out what you’re lying about now.

Gee, JSS actually AGREED, as does Snopes, that Rogers WAS fired for yanking Donnie’s chain!

Bob – The notoriety gained stems from one (flawed) post repeated again and again. Which goes towards your point :)

Sinclair Broadcasting owns a large share of the local news in Pittsburgh.
And they are expanding and bringing their propaganda to your town, too.
