I used to hear from my gun nut friends that they maintain an arsenal to keep the democrats, Nancy, Barak or Hillary in particular from taking their freedom. I always pointed out that it is the republicans I fear the most. Had no idea I had the gift of prophecy.
No matter how often the message is massaged, JoanSimpson is still lying.
“Donald Trump is enforcing an immigration law that President Bush signed into law in 1997, the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008.”.
Wow, what a mishmash. Bush was not president in 1997, Clinton was. There was no law in 1997, it was the Flores v Reno settlement (as JS notes further down in the comment).
Snopes: “However, neither the 1997 Flores settlement nor a 2008 human trafficking law cited in that release in any way stipulated that the government separate children from their parents:”
I wonder how people who eagerly consume the kind of stuff JS spews manage to keep from wondering why this separation of children hasn’t been going full force since 1997.

Conservative pundit David Brooks: What’s most significant is this: The Trump administration immigration officials have become exactly the kind of monsters that conservatism has always warned against. For centuries, conservatives have repeated a specific critique against state power. Statism, conservatives have argued, has a tendency to become brutalist and inhumane because a bureaucracy can’t see or account for the complexity of reality. It tries to impose uniform rules on the organic intricacy of human relationships. Statist social engineering projects cause horrific suffering because in the mind of statists, the abstract rule is more important than the human being in front of them. The person must be crushed for the sake of the abstraction.
Two faced Trump says that Toxic Trump’s policy of kidnapping children is wrong and liar Trump says he will stop it or something, who knows what goes on in that idiots head.
FYI…. The private prison system is making a killing on this…
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reported that in 2016, private prisons held nearly three-quarters of federal immigration detainees. Private prisons also hold an unknown percentage of people held in local jails in Texas, Louisiana, and a handful of other states.

After watching Kirstjen Nielsen talk to the press, I think we can see that Joe Arpaio is more suited to explaining Trump’s policies on immigration.

Victorian Britain had more mercy toward the children of debtors than today’s US does toward the children of illegal immigrants. USA! USA!

Trump is doing this all on his own. He doesn’t like people of color and that includes refugees from countries damaged by the US Drug Wars.
