Some laundromat washers and dryers now work with cell phones. You can pay the money in using a payment app, then go away until you get a message telling you your clothes are ready to come out.

Or an app could be synced with the stove timer, showing time remaining and “dinging” when done. It wasn’t a stupid question.

Mine stove isn’t “connected”, but it does beep and change the display when it has finished pre-heating. Very useful.
