This is in response to the posters yesterday who wondered whether April was going to be conceived during this trip of John and Elly’s:
April won’t be born for another seven years, if Lynn sticks with the original timeline. Elizabeth was nine and Michael was fourteen when April was born – and April was born in the month of April during a freak snowstorm (which is how she got her name), not in October (which is when she would have been born if she had been conceived in January.)
And April may not even be born at all in this new hybrid continuity. The only reason April was born in the first place was that Lynn was thinking of having a third child in real life because her two existing children were older and she missed the time when they were small and wanted to relive those years. A friend of hers convinced her, however, that she didn’t need to actually have a third child in order to relive those early years; she could simply give the Pattersons another child and relive those early parenting days that way.
Thus, April was really not so much John and Elly’s third child as she was a substitute for the third child that LYNN had once considered having.
Aaand, back to the strip… Michael is so cute in this one. My seven year old is also at the age where she thinks she can take care of things and I think it’s great. They want to be big and responsible (without the work, of course! LOL)
Happy New Year, everyone! (Can we stop the snippy comments for the rest of the day and start off the new year better?)
I don’t really want to get snippy but come on prfesser. If you are busy worrying about how other people choose to enjoy a comic strip, it sounds like you may be short of meaningful things to do yourself. What is your life, criticizing those similar to yourself?
Michael is not worried about their babysitters’ welfare and taking care of them, he is planning how to mold them to the lifestyle he and Lizzie want during their holiday.
Can’t we all just get along??? This is supposed to be a fun place to hang out! No one has a right to criticize anyone else’s life. Just because someone else’s thoughts, opinions, hobbies, etc., aren’t the same as mine or yours doesn’t make them wrong — it just makes them different from you and me and I think that’s perfectly okay. To some people, FBoFW is just a comic … and to others, it’s a 3-or-4-panel daily soap opera. Who cares?! I’m fine with it either way!
Here’s a post that’s actually related to the strip: I wonder how the grandparents will like watching the kids when they don’t have the option of handing them back over to the parents when they get cranky?
