which is why you should check your cheque book before going to the doctor’s (and go to the bank if you used up all your cheques in order to obtain more cheque books)
I think my DRs still take checks, but I get cash rebates on my credit card. However the Vet is cash or card only. I had to make an emergency visit & the credit card system was down & I had no cash. Since it’s my regular vet & I needed to bring him back the next week, & they know me, I got to just have a balance on my account. Not sure if I was someplace else.
Fortunately, I go to the VA clinic-no co-pay but ‘sripts’ are a different matter. I get billed once a month for those and they are paid for by check or debit card.
The copay for my insurance plan is less it I go to the chief of pulmonary medicine at the hospital-affiliated practice than if I go to the quack-in-the-box urgent care clinic.

Stop and print a fresh stack of $20s or $50s at the ATM. (I remember when the first ATMs had $5s and $10s.)

A real plugged would just use his DEBIT CARD not write a check

Between billpay and the cards, I don’t write many checks

A local bank was hot glue binding cash into a checkbook form. When you used the last one you were out of money, just like checks.
