Acid reducers do not neutralize stomach acid, they reduce production.

Hah! Very funny! The acidic/acrid coffee and an acid reducer. :)

I am glad I do not need acid reducers. My wife does, and it is not pleasant for her. I drink copious quantities of strong, black, acrid and acidic coffee to no ill effect.

My GI doc finally convinced me to stop the caffeine, green chili, and other things I was eating that were killing my stomach. (I am also on a PPI). A couple of days ago I drank some coffee anyway. It didn’t bother my stomach, but I was awake until 4:00 a.m. due to no longer being accustomed to any caffeine!
