I remember a few years ago they announced they were canceling the test because of the potential for severe weather that day

this would be funny but watching the news this morning and looking at tomorrow’s weather report it is actually kinda spooky.

Read where one Hawaiian resident was told he had to leave home because of the volcanic lave flows. He said he wasn’t leaving his home; that he would ‘ride it out.’ Had the disaster involved water and a flood, he might just possibly have had some chance of survival. With a lava flow – not so much. Wonder if he changed his mind.

If we ever have a tornado around noon on the first Tuesday of the month we’re all in big trouble.

Here in SW Ohio, it’s noon on the first Monday of the month. Most of the time, unless I happen to be outside, I don’t hear them.

When I was a kid in MIami we had the same weekly siren test…but for air raids.

The nuclear power plant in my area tests its meltdown siren at noon the first Thursday of the month. When it went off at 3:30 the third Tuesday of the month people freaked out. Turned out the plant was fine, but there was a short circuit in the alarm system. Good times.

This joke takes a second to get for those of us who don’t live in tornado zones.

I live on the tail end of Tornado Alley. So some tornadoes have appeared by passing Houston and landing in Sugarland a bit further south. Though I can’t say I have ever heard a tornado siren.

When I was a kid here in SoCal, we had a nuke attack warning test the first Friday of the month. Duck and cover!
