IMO, Macron is playing nice to Trump’s face hoping to stop Trump from trashing the Iran Pact, to get the US back into Paris climate change agreement, and to encourage Trump to work with US allies. The speech that Macron gave to Congress spelled out what direction Trump and the US SHOULD be taking. It was uncontested by Trump, so it looks like “playing nice” worked.
I think the Austrian really missed the reality on this. I hope others didn’t. Macron used tRump really well, as in “we’re really getting along well, (you dips**t). Now in my speech I’ll tell you what I really think of your policies.”. No, Macron didn’t say that, but that’s what he did.
