Being the offspring of a teacher and a clergyman, speaking in public has never been a problem for me. Getting me to shut up in public, on the other hand, is another matter entirely.
A better trick is to pick out one random person in the audience and direct your presentation “only” to them. It’s less intimidating if you pretend you’re only speaking to one person.
