While two days in a row of just a gag a day is a relief, is it really a fitting end to the drama, however mellow, we just witnessed?

This is like the ‘tag’ on a ‘70’s cop show, where they explain the plot of the episode, then laugh at something random. ✨

If this were realistic, Nancy would now have to rush away, having peed herself.

Yes, You did a GOOD Job with Fay this Arc, Luann. You and your mom should be Proud.

But as Han Solo once said: “Don’t get Cocky!”

Tomorrow we start an arc where the subjective character will end up having completely resolved their problem by the arc end, with a life changing advance to their personality.

You might think you have all the answers but you don’t.

When I first pulled this up, before the words became clear, I thought this was still Sundays strip.

My mom and I have had that very same giggle. There are days we think it is so funny that now that we are all grown up we are supposed to know how to handle things.

We have figured out we are good enough if we know how to look it up.

I thought adults did have all the answers, just not all the right answers.

Interesting artistic tool yesterday and today, where the background vanishes in the second and third panels (more so yesterday than today) to focus on the two characters’ reactions.

Greetings from Philadelphia where the 72nd Annual Reuben Awards weekend is underway. As expected Greg and Karen are here mingling with fellow cartoonists, Syndicate Gods and even lowly accessories like me who are viewed grudgingly as evil but necessary practitioners of the black art of coloring. The running joke is that cartoonists themselves engage in the colorful art of blacking. Oh, the wit.While our esteemed pair was away from their table exchanging secret handshakes and cryptic passwords with their peers, I saw the Holy Grail.On the table was a timeworn leather and brass lockbox labeled “Top Secret Luann Cliffhanger Resolutions and Off Camera Storylines”.I made a reach for it keeping my eye out for witnesses. Through the round kitchen door window there he was … the gremlin from Nightmare at 20,000 Feet grinning and wagging his index finger at me like a metronome. I tried, I really tried, but I want to have a safe flight home. Maybe next year.

OK, good ending to this arc. Glad Nancy and Lu can have a laugh at it… Now, back to the Tiff arc, please!!!

It’s nice to see Luann with a parent in a weekday strip. I wonder when the last time that was.

We now get some insight to what GnK was trying to do with this Fay arc. While poking fun at herself now, we were being introduced into Luann’s maturation. We’ve seen Tiff, Gunther, Les, even Al & Irma. Luann’s certainly is different from her contemporaries.

Just when we think we have things all figured out….wham! Doesn’t matter if an adult of teenager, it can happen in all phases of life, we can be thrown a curve ball. Good ending to this Fay arc.

Luann really didn’t give Fay any advice, did she? She just told her that the date was off, when she found out that Fay hadn’t been honest about it.

I think Nancy needs to upgrade her kitchen with some nice granite countertops .. that nondescript Formica just doesn’t cut it these days.

If only they had gotten along like this in Luann’s teen years…

This is a very satisfying and unsatisfying end to this particular arc, but how that is seen depends, IMHO, on one’s perspective. If you look at Luann as what it says it is, as a look at the ups and downs of a young female, and the people in that world, with her development, and that of the characters in that world being a dynamic and evolving thing, this is a very satisfying arc conclusion. Luann is realizing, in a funny way, that what she did as a child, is now reflected with Fay and Axel, and how the whole enterprise of parenting, and growing up is a beautiful but confounding thing. If this is an unsatisfying arc, then those people do not understand Luann as a dynamic, evolving story, but look at it as some kind of unsatisfying gag-a-day strip, or a comedic melodrama involving characters within whom they can project issues in their own lives. Or they are just trolls, and I guess that is human nature. I am in the former. Love it!!

My vote for the next big story arc -- Brad and Toni get pregnant.

Well that’s a relief. Yesterday I was worried that the Evanses were setting up another week of flashbacks back to the 13-year-old Luann.

Tomorrow: Shannon learns how to salute.

Not sure Nancy and Luann are thinking exactly the same things as they laugh, but “Luann adulting” is a pretty humorous thing….
