What I have seen in quite a few families, regardless of ethnic/national/racial origins, is that patriarchy seems the norm, whether Asian, European, African or American. I have also witnessed Patriarchy vs Matriarchy in quite a number of marriages. But, I have also witnessed numerous married couples, who actually work and cooperate together in their family life.
