Trump is the “something better” the GOP was looking for when W lost his luster. The gut-feel, “god has chosen me”, self aggrandizing leader, spurning logic, math and science, started with W, and even though Trump has moral and ethical issues, their god-concept seems to allow him to be forgiven as the end justifies the means. Religious reflection and humility can inspire great works, but too many feel they have a direct connection and everyone else is inferior.

Which makes all of Washington on edge, even as everyone digests the staggering fact that FBI agents raided the offices and the residence in NY of Cohen, the personal attorney of the resident of the United States. To make this spell work, he must pretend that the search warrant executed against Cohen is a symptom of an investigation raging wildly out of control. If the spell doesn’t work, he wold trigger outrage in Washington and present republicans who control the House with a dilemma about whether to act to protect the president or to do nothing.
