For the record, the original saying by Aristotle was, “Those who know, do. Those that understand, teach." Sadly, while in a diminishing minority, there are still enough people in the profession who continue to give life to the latter versions. The ironic twist on this saying was best popularized by George Bernard Shaw. And the subsequent evolution to add a dig at P.E. is sustained by many gym teachers and coaches who lack the proper certifications to be in the classroom.

Just about all who can do would never be able to teach. That is such a stupid colloquialism.

What about those who want to teach? What do they do if they can’t teach? (It’s such a stupid saying, anyway. Good teachers make the world go around.)

The best teachers often teach you about being the best you, and less about the subject.
