The problem is that it is NOT journalism. Instead, a computer programmer has declared himself the arbiter of what can and should be released, and who should be targeted for leaks. (How about China? Russia?) Whether I agree conceptually that we should reveal more secrets (and I do), I don’t trust him to decide!
I did see one comment I liked a lot: Now the US Government knows what it is like to go through a naked body scanner…
Though I don’t approve of what WikiLeaks has done, one good thing that has come out this is that Iran has an better idea of how their neighbors feel about them. I’m really tired of those cowards wanting us to do their heavy lifting.
^^ I suppose that has the potential to be a good thing. Perhaps they now will have to move forward with more of a “public” share of ‘Interest’ in a productive outcome.

What do these folks NOT KNOW about “anything you put in an email IS going to go to everyone, eventually.” These cables were obviously NOT “secure” documents.
I agree with motive.I never agreed with the war in Iraq, I never will. But the US government is not the only evil (not even the most evil) government in the World. Yet for some reason, WikiLeaks never reveals anyting embarassing about China or Russia. I read a paper on RéseauVoltaire a few days back (not exactly something reliable, if you ask me) that said that maybe the US government (or people that are part of it) is actually USING WikiLeaks.
On the up side, Wikileaks will be dead after both wars are over. They will have nothing left to grab attention.
Meeting people from around the world, it’s interesting that they say they LIKE Americans, just not the government so much. The other side of that is that I’ve met folks from Viet Nam, China, Iraq, Kuwait, several African and South American nations, and found them to be VERY NICE PEOPLE–the universal nature is that PEOPLE tend to be better than their “governments”- OR - “religious leaders”.
Now people seeking their “15 minutes of fame”, whether on the internet, or “reality TV”, do tend to display their worst behaviors.

Responsibility has been thrown away….scofflaws get by with doing what in years past would have brought police action, arrest, trial and prison. Nixon’s “plumbers” were trying to obtain EVIDENCE of Democratic dirty trick plans….to do illegal acts against the administration/GOP.
But those “plumbers” were demonized and sneered at to this day! That seems to be more serious than a mere double-standard….IMO it is elimination of equal and high standards for all, the Ds and Rs equal before the Law.
