Val: What should we make for Jordan when he comes over? Holly: I'm not COOKING for him!! Val: Why not? Holly: You want me to act all...DOMESTIC? Like some wifey-to-be? Holly: Make him think that wherever he goes women just...SERVE HIM? Val: Is it OK if he knows you can dial? Holly: Yes. I'll order the pizza.

That’s Holly – drama for drama’s sake.

I liked gramma’s suggestion to be sure Val’s sister brings her babies to this family dinner.

I bet that on Saturday, at dinner, he won’t show up because Holly forgot to invite him. :D

I’m the first one to champion women’s equality (and have been doing so for more years than I wish to contemplate), however… If you invite someone to dine with you there is no inequality in cooking a nice dinner for that person. This is a social nicety, nothing to do with sexual equality. I would also expect it if a man invited me to dinner. Unless it was made perfectly clear that the invitation was for a casual pizza dinner then I would expect a little more effort. If you don’t wish to make the effort, don’t invite me in the first place!

just remember, equality is a two way street.

Hm…I haven’t been commenting but, isn’t this just some boy that Holly likes? Since when did he become her boyfriend? Wouldn’t it be something if he didn’t like her? I remember embellishing and stretching the truth a bit back then. Okay, PRETENDING I had a boyfriend at school alright? There I said it!

LOL! I agree, arsmall! This is probably just some guy that she’s been admiring from afar. Other than meeting him at the mall, they haven’t even gone on a date. Oh well, it’s more fun this way.
Well said, OldPossum! (I’m hoping that somebodyshort is being sarcastic… That was pretty nitpicky.)

I haven’t been commenting, either, but I’m really bothered by all the trouble with a boy this kid in JUNIOR HIGH likes. If Jan wanted to get to know him, she’d have Holly invite several kids, including this boy, over for a pizza and games night - or something casual and interactive like that. There is WAY too much pressure being put on this relationship, and I think that Jan is out of line.

Great Picasso-like effect on Holly in panel three.

Since he’s coming over, it’s kind of implied that they are more than mere acquaintances.
