This reminds me of a joke told by a popular radio financial pundit. Every now and then some caller asks about investing in gold and mentions something like preparation against a worldwide economic collapse.
The answer to callers like this is usually “if you seriously think the world economy will collapse, then you don’t want gold. You want whiskey and bullets.”
Hmmm, let’s see. The world was expected to collapse during the 1950’s, during the 1960’s (when we got our fallout shelter), during the 1970’s and a few more times, after that. I am just glad that I did not hold my breath waiting for it.
