Perhaps the NRA reminded #45 about how much they contributed to his 2016 Campaign!

Russia bought the NRA in the 2016 election, and they just reminded him of that in the meeting. You’d think people would get super-ticked off about a foreign govt. who hates us buying an organization that advocates for mass murder to be easy and is essentially a domestic terrorist organization.

Did Anyone expect him to say “take the guns away 1st”? Because he wants to be dictator for life and he knows if we have guns the likelihood that he will get taken out is more likely. The BBC told about president Xi of China is “president for life”; The orange one said, “we (me-I ) maybe give that a shot here”. Thereby giving away what he has planned all along.

You know, some people who are scared, have the intention to overact their confidence. Clearly, Mr. T. is one of those.

With both parties being a small minority of the electorate, you would think that they would have to please the majority to remain in office, yet with approval rating lower that the president’s, they are continually reelected even though they serve organizations like the NRA. While Trump is over his head in the role of president and seems to have given up on making radical changes that could satisfy his supporters and is falling in line with his fellow politicians.

This is spot on! Also, the majority of school shooters are in fact under 21. I know that just takes care of a segment of shootings, but that is an important part of what should be addressed!

Trump likes that money the NRA washed from Russia and gave to him.

Trump abandoned his gun control promise, looks like they have more power over him than he thought. He is just another swamp politician afraid of the NRA. He said he would stare down the NRA, but the Negotiator in chief blinked.

“Very strong improvement and strengthening of background checks will be fully backed by White House. Legislation moving forward. Bump Stocks will soon be out. Highly trained expert teachers will be allowed to conceal carry, subject to State Law. Armed guards OK, deterrent! On 18 to 21 Age Limits, watching court cases and rulings before acting. States are making this decision. Things are moving rapidly on this, but not much political support (to put it mildly).” – until he caved like a little wimp to the NRA

“I’m a fan of the NRA, I mean, there’s no bigger fan. I’m a big fan of the NRA” – Trump on his real feeling. He just proved he is their biggest fan

Or it could be that someone with more than an ounce of brains laid out the likelihood of an age 21 limit being ruled unconstitutional.

Current law limits sale by FFL dealers, but not ownership of pistols to people under age 21. This new proposal would have cut off sales of all firearms to adults age 18-20.

This would be a violation of the equal protection clause in the 14th, as well as a violation of the 2nd. While Kennedy MIGHT have gone along with the violation of the 2nd, he would never have supported the violation of the 14th.

Please read the following by renowned Constitutional attorney and dedicated anti-gun advocate Alan Dershowitz.

“Foolish liberals who are trying to read the Second Amendment out of the Constitution by claiming that it’s not an individual right or that it’s too much of a safety hazard, don’t see the danger of the big picture. They’re courting disaster by encouraging others to use the same means to eliminate portions of the Constitution they don’t like.“

Dershowitz proposes repealing or replacing the 2nd because he understands the dangers of creating precedent for nullifying the Constitution via the courts. The 2nd would be only the beginning.

Children attending schools have rights too. In fact, their right to life trumps any gun owners rights to guns. I will say that unequivocally. The 2nd amendment can be repealed, as have others. Of course amendments can be changed. They are called amendments. More guns is not a solution to mass shootings. The majority of school mass shooters have been teens or young adults. People are more apt to have an accidental shooting or suicide than be able to protect themselves with guns. Teachers can’t walk around with holsters on and by the time they would get a gun from a locked cabinet they would be dead.

@Andylit: Age discrimination is the one limitation that has merit. While it obviously isn’t a perfect identifier of an individual person’s maturity, it is a good standard to gauge the mean level of maturity of a group.

This may bring up the argument of being in the military and handling weapons while under the age of 21. My response to that would be “OK”. It might reduce the number and severity of PTSD victims due to increased maturity and ability to separate events that are “normal” and “not normal”.
