So true, and with the “help” being the student athletes who work their tails off in the hope (low as it is for most of them) that they’ll make it to the next level—even in a third-world nation. Then, they’ll be able to live better than the low-income locals, but have to get airfare from their parents to return to the US.
Given the cost of an education they get for free beyond other perks, the idea they aren’t getting compensated is laughable. Easy fix: end all athletic scholarships like Division III and make the NBA and NFL start their own minor leagues.
