Wasps are even more interesting alive or dead. You can see their stinger very well. Unlike worker bees, it is smooth as a needle.
Is there an unwritten law among comic strip artists that characters have only 4 fingers? It makes my skin crawl!
Amelia is probably just hoping Spud will accidently learn that you can still sting yourself with a bee stinger, even if the bee is dead.
