Television is geared for people 15 to 25, not for us older folk!

None of the shows in the first panel appeal to me. I’m quite happy that we now have access to the Hallmark Channel with predictable ending movies.

Although I never watched any of those shows I can still say Amen to that. TV has become a desert wasteland. Poor writing, poor plots and inane comedies and horrors of horrors reality shows that aren’t real.

It started when you allowed THAT tripe instead of Father Knows Best, Leave It To Beaver and My Three Sons.

Although a great series, I think Married With Children turned the corner. Go Bundy!

I haven’t watched anything on live TV for years. I can sit here at my desktop and reruns from years ago.

my ‘guess’ – people don’t want to watch something that might challenge them to change for the good – i.e. be civil, be respectful, be encouraging etc. They want to watch people tear each other down, complain about life, disrespect each other, and overall disgusting behavior. They have said to me when I have asked them why they watch now a day TV – the ‘old’ shows about family and relationships were not real and my family was more like the dysfunction we have now for, and I use this word with real reservation, “entertainment”. My take is that they would rather watch something that they ‘think’ they can feel superior to and use as an excuse – “see I am normal/better than they are because I do/don’t do that” – rather than being shown a possibly better way to handle or react to life. Just ‘my guess’. (sighs)

Thankfully we Americans now have access to decent shows from the U.K., Canada and Australia via Acorn, Hulu, etc.

I am proud to say I have never seen an episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”, “Honey Boo Boo”, Teen Mom, or any of those other awful reality shows. They may put out garbage, but I don’t have to take it.

WE do not have a TV in our home, don’t get a news paper. My wife gets our news from the radio ,or talking to some of her friends. I get most from the news on the internet, which mostly is not worth a darn.
