When you get a chance, take a good look at any major league dugout. Pre-game, it’s pristine. By the start of the 2nd inning, the floor will be covered in all sorts of detritus, not just sunflower seeds, but empty cups, papers, and spit (THANK THE MAKER that MLB has banned chewing tobacco…). This behavior seems to be limited to baseball; I’ve never seen anything like it in the NHL, NBA, or NFL.
