Why should Schumer (or any of the rest of them) have any trust that compromises will be honored? Too many broken promises from both Trump and the Republican leadership.
McConnell (R-Ky.) said he would consider allowing a floor debate on immigration in mid- to late February if leaders do not strike an agreement before then.
“Three moderate Republican U.S. senators on Monday, emerging from a bipartisan meeting aimed at trying to end the government shutdown, said there could enough support if Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell made a firmer commitment to move legislation that would address so-called Dreamer immigrants.”
“Well, if you say who gets fired it always has to be the top,” Trump said. “I mean, problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top and the president’s the leader. And he’s got to get everybody in a room and he’s got to lead.”
He said that further down in history, “when they talk about the government shutdown, they’re going to be talking about the president of the United States, who the president was at that time.”
“They’re not going to be talking about who was the head of the House, the head the Senate, who’s running things in Washington,” Trump said.
“So I really think the pressure is on the president,” he added.
It’s just so wrong; we Republicans can’t get anything done now that the Democrats have control of the Senate, the House, the Presidency, and the Supreme Court. We’re quite helpless. And it’s all Schumer’s fault.
What about those Republicans who are going against this as well?
A Politico/Morning Consult poll released on Monday and conducted Thursday and Friday — before the federal government shut down at midnight Friday — found that 41 percent of voters said they would fault Republicans in Congress for the shutdown, compared to 36 percent who said they would fault Democrats.
Unsurprisingly, there was a partisan divide — Democrats were likelier to blame Republicans and vice versa, but more independents said they would blame Republicans as well: 34 percent compared to 27 percent for Democrats.
A Washington Post/ABC News poll conducted Monday through Thursday of last week, also before the shutdown, found similar results: 48 percent of respondents said President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans were responsible for the impasse over immigration and border security at the core of the shutdown, compared to 28 percent who said the onus was on Democrats.

You have to learn how to trust … like Susan Collins did.

Mr. Payne, the ability to sketch (somewhat) does not, in any way, confer either honesty or integrity to what is sketched.

^ Appears that Mr. Payne rejected journalistic integrity long ago! It might be that pandering to RWNJs is more satisfying to him.
