Why do several of the people in line look like tourists? Did they just see a line and think it was a ride or attraction or something?

Tourist: Oooo honey, look at this…

Sign: Come see how we vote in Africa!

Tourist: I wonder what will happen if we try to vote?

And is that one guy walking away whistling Dixie? Maybe Lady Gaga?

I don’t appreciate the inherent racist tone of this comic either! Are they saying that they are surprised that Africans can have an election without violence. How very ethnocentric of them!

^ Uh, the cartoonist is from Kenya and he’s saying that the Westerner media doesn’t expect African elections without violence.

And the westerner is from CNN which is mainstream left. Stuart, you really have some difficulties focusing on reality.

You don’t think there are racists at CNN? Remember some guy the used to have over there named Glen Beck. Or that xenophobic guy who hated undocumented immigration, Lou Dobbs?

    Clueless.

The voting went largely without a hitch. Now, the counting delays? Upsetting a few folks. Worked a few times in Dar es Salaam, nice city.

senorbull$hit: I think the Idea is to denigrate a real liberal because of guilt that maybe he did not do enough for the cause and is angry that his desire to compromise with the Right is the attitude among “moderate” liberals (which really aren’t liberals at all) made us lose Congress.

Pathetic. How are we going to win in 2012 if we cannot all pull together, senor?

If it wasn’t for the real left, you so called moderates would have had McCain and 2 more years of Bush between 2008-2010, so maybe some gratitude is in order.

senor, I am going to have to flag you for such an inappropriate, non-tolerant comment.

this is not the way you treat a fellow progressive.

i flag your comment with sadness…

senor. How dare you call another Progressive a Tea Bagger? That is the lowest thing that I have ever seen a fellow traveler do. Almost worse than the falsehood spoken by Fennec regarding something he claims I said about wanting to be obnoxious.

Don’t you see? This is the kind of infighting the wingnuts and tea baggers want us to engage in! When fennec spoke falsely, people who have been paying attention (after all, some have googled my nom de plume - as if I would use my real name on an online forum - that is for our netroot leaders like Charles Johnson at LGF or of course, my personal hero, Markos at the Kos) noticed that and now they are going to wonder if fennec’s cogent comments (of which there are so many) are also false, thus devaluing his arguments and setting all us liberals back.

The wingnuts see the way you fly off the handle, senor, and attack your allies then pigeonhole you into the emotionally stunted liberal that the right thinks we are. Please don’t load vitriol bullets into the tea baggers guns. Please. We liberals have the lead on this forum and more and more people are coming to our side. Don’t jeopardize that with your behaviour. Try to be better than that.

I flagged that comment with the greatest regret, not out of hatred for the precious first amendment (have YOU ever burned a flag at a rally in San Francisco - I doubt it), but I did it as a warning because the infighting only strengthens our real enemies, the neoconsevatives and the right wing. Please try to understand.

How can keep the independents marching toward us to join us in our march to socialism and social justice if bicker with one another?

Please, as a fellow traveler on the Progressive road I urge to work with me as we both have the same goal.

And don’t insult our leader, President Obama, he wouldn’t like it if he heard your disrespect.

    Peace,

SZ - YOU burned an american flag ? and you want us ALL to pull together ?

you addlepated twit ! NO ONE who burns the flag - for WHATEVER reason - has the right to say they are an american !

the only reason i won’t unequivocally insult you is because, you are too young(can’t be helped) and starry-eyed(as i am). but you very much need a reality slap/check. READ and LISTEN to what is going on around you. and, though you have delusions of educated graciousness, you do not know the proper use of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure or spelling (yet).

Reading the above comments reminds me, and since this is an African Views ‘toon afterall, of a few weekends I spent on Rockey street, Yeoville/Bellevue in Jo’burg back in late ’90s.

Hmm, just went on a nostalgia trip on the ‘net (without dropping any As this time) and discovered Rockey st has gone the way of Hillbrow, my runaway haunt of the mid ’80s. Sad. Does this mean I just had a bad trip?
