You don’t not have to be an economic genius to look at the historical record and see that tax cuts are always accompanied by three results: (1) an increase in the deficit and national debt; (2) in increase in CEO pay and bonuses; and (3) a widening of the income gap between the bottom 95 percent of the American people and the top 5 percent.

That does not grow the economic engine of the U.S.

Boner will undoubtedly begin to attack the deficit by…continuing tax cuts to those earning more than a quarter million a year.

    I guarantee it.

Anthony 2816 : …continuing tax cuts to those earning more than a quarter million a year.

    … and cutting social security.

Obama’s cat food commission report is due December 1st, and Republicans and Democrats will both support the cuts.

    Bipartisanship.

“Taxes cut by Bush knocked unemployment down to 4.6% and added millions of jobs the ensuing five years.”

Reality check Sweetheart: Twenty-two million jobs were created during Clinton’s two terms but only 3 million during Bush’s. http://politifact.com/ohio/statements/2010/jul/25/sherrod-brown/sherrod-brown-touts-job-grown-during-clinton-presi/

Sorry, but the higher tax era of Clinton created more jobs than Bush’s spending spree. Not to mention that everyone from the top to the bottom of the economic ladder prospered, while under Bush only the top tier did.

And apparently the people only speak when they elect Republicans. When they elect Democrats, it’s solely due to trickery. I love it!

“Boehner Cannot cut taxes himself nor can he cut spending. End of story.”

This doesn’t sound like the ecstatic wave of “change” and new era of Republican policy that the other Righties are chanting.

The Repulsicans have plotted for two years to become the “majority.” When anyone of them burn their FEDERAL insurance cards and start spending their own money for health care, AND give back all the money the Chamber of Commerce, and outside business interests spent to get them in, I’ll believe they really want to reduce the deficit. They will now have to be the party “ok, all the time, and right now” instead of NO NEVER NOT NOW!

I think the Republican “plan” will open the eyes of enough people over the next two years (not including Howgozit, apparently) that we’ll be able to reelect President Obama and give him a majority to work with for his second term. HOwgozit and others like him turned their minds off a long time ago and they are best ignored. They’ve become inconsequential because of their blindness.

Here’s one sure to irritate Howie: “The People have Spoken:” http://lezgetreal.com/2010/11/senator-gillibrand-invokes-dadt-repeal-marriage-equality-in-victory-speech/

Oh and by the way, DADT repeal enjoys a greater consensus of American support both Right, middle, and Left, than either party, Congress, or the president. These polls are even reflected by people at Fox News. The people have spoken, Howie. Do you support repeal? Or do the people only speak when you agree?

Not only did Clinton create more jobs, he also had a budget surplus the last 4 years (1998-2001). Bush left office with a record deficit, massive recession, and 2 wars. Not to mention losing 750K jobs per month. And folks still vote Republican. Goes to show you, poor education does have its benefits.

jmatt, yes the republican 8 years did so much for us (as long as the us made the top tier incomes in the country) unfortunately the other things it did for us was to rape the middle east with wars for profit (ie; bush, cheney, and halburten) and the detriment of those of our military who paid the price for the bush boys greed. talk about people who need to come up for war crimes.

cartoonist and most posters have warped views, IMO. they prefer Liberal economic Loser Agendas, with Democrat-planned tax hikes and expanded federal spending and losts of honey pots for Democrats to dip into and spend under the table…..borrowing and making Americans slaves to enemy dictatorships that have money due to enslaving their own citizens….debt is slavery….the piper calls the tune….and we see the current Prez Piper is dead-set on killing our original form of government to replace it with global government, foreign laws and plans, and a foreign currency to replace the defunct dollar deliberately ruined by excessive debt and monetary suicide.

    So is the economy?

The majority of job losses happened before the stimulus kicked in – http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2010/oct/28/barack-obama/obama-says-most-job-loss-occurred-his-economic-pol/ (true)

The GDP started rising on Obama’s watch after it and job losses had been in free-fall. Stocks are back over 10,000 and people are enjoying record profits.

As for condescending, libs certainly aren’t the ones trying to ban specific religions from court and asking for constitutional challenges. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1110/44630.html

Conservatives are the ones who say their gut feelings are better than science. Sure, libs cry about drinking soda and climate effects, both of which are observable, but Conservatives demand their way or the highway in private life and then point fingers at libs calling them “big government.” At least libs own up to being big government.

…discussing the election results in terms of what people think and want is enormously frustrating…as if the record amount of anonymous campaign funds made no difference (which in the billions can only come from the extraordinarily wealthy and be aimed to protect their best interests).

ANY pundit from either side, any media who is discussing the results as if people were not manipulated, is ignoring a dangerous and significant factor in the election.. Advertising works. It’s a well researched industry and the industry knows how to successfully coerce people to act even against their best interest.

And, brain science says, once you’ve voted for someone, or some party, you will be inclined to be blind to any failings, and even more supportive.

Brain science also says that fear-mongering creates a strong emotion and ANY message attached to a strong emotion is more likely to be remembered (that’s why the superbowl charges more for flashing ads right after a touchdown). So doesn’t really matter how dishonest the ads, if they manage to create some real fear, you’ve hooked in a sucker for the hidden agenda of the big money behind the ads.

Boehner and friends have been using that watering can for a long time- it’s called “Reaganomics” and is responsible for roughly 80% of the national debt. Give them the checkbook and they’ll keep writing the same old overdrafts- and the taxpayers of the future are their overdraft protection.

    “I want …”

I highly, HIGHLY suggest you check Tea Party polls and then get back to me. Many people clamoring about government and entitlement in the Tea party are ON those services. They said they EARNED those things; others couldn’t explain the contradiction between being a member of the Tea party and being on government programs. Medicare and Social Security. When asked what they would cut, no Tea partier ever mentions any of the entitlements. THEN they say the government isn’t doing enough to create jobs. Sorry, but entitlement and whining isn’t a left-only thing so perhaps YOU should make things up.

“Gotta love, cons. Even in victory, as condescending and snotty as ever.”

I don’t think you’ve been paying attention to the posts here. Only Liberals and Democrats are condescending and snotty, the Righties said so. It couldn’t possibly be “both.”

“Jade wrote, in response to Jack: This doesn’t sound like the ecstatic wave of “change” and new era of Republican policy that the other Righties are chanting.”

You should check the wording in my response, you’ll notice I DIDN’T say you said anything about change. I said others did. So no, I have not been “making things up.” Basically I was pointing out that your comment was more grounded and reflecting of the actual situation.

trout….Boehner knows the difference between a chain saw and a watering can…..and the GOP leaders who promoted lower and fairer IRS tax rates also called for SPENDING CUTS…..which the Democrats always and forever rejected.

Boehner calls for cutting and lowering federal spending. If borrowed money isn’t spent by Big Brother Government, the federal Debt and the annual deficits will not increase.
