Geesh. I see people still harping on Tiffany’s weight as if it is the monumental priority. Far more important is her emergence as a better person and gaining female friendships. She did not gain that much – she is merely chubby, like Dez, whose weight I don’t see any harping about. Dez is not fat – just larger than average female her age of which Tiffany is now. She might decide to lose weight towards her old figure or just lose a few weight until she feels good, not necessarily fitting into her old cheerleader uniforms. Hollywood have put too much pressure on women to look like the female celebrities who have private chefs who prepare healthy food and correct portions for them so they don’t have worry about those things and persona trainer to guide them through their exercise program after all it is FOR their jobs. It is different for the rest of us yet we struggle to be like them AND come to expect the American women to look as good as their actresses. Go figure.
To Dez’ closet. Now we will get to see what Tiffany looks like wearing Dez-style fashions. I wonder how many flower child outfits will get to see Tiffany try on.

1) While Des has always been chubby, Tiff is a young woman, about 19, with exceptionally good looks, and accustomed to a slender body. She gained weight rapidly, due to very unhealthy family and psychological pressures. Very few girls in her position would take a “so what – chubby is okay” attitude. It adds an additional motivation for her depression, and she’d be elated to get her old model looks back.
2) My gut feel prognostication is that the Evanses intend to take her on a course of recovering her former size as all this shakes out. Some of us here would be pleased with that outcome. Perhaps you and some others wouldn’t. People are entitled to their preferences, as well as their opinions.
3) Regarding “fat shaming”: I fully realize that with medical and genetic realities as they currently are, not everyone can be trim. And I do not ever “shame” people personally for their weight, which is their own issue to deal with. I’m “chubby” myself, though I’d prefer not to be. In any event, being significantly over one’s “normal” weight, by medical standards, is definitely a health liability. And the aesthetic gain of being trim helps one psychologically, socially, and romantically. The instinct that people have to be attracted to trim people, particularly in romantic situations, is not some social aberration to be engineered out. In fact, it’s based on the perception that a more-aesthetic partner is likely to produce healthier children. Since the kids are likely to be more aesthetic, it passes down through generations. Society would be far better off to operate on attitudes and policies that encourage trim and aesthetic people to produce the preponderance of children, and to give less-healthy people some second thoughts about the ethics of reproducing. Maybe you think that’s fat/health shaming. I’d call it being a responsible citizen.
Is Dez’s Earth Mother look really what Tiffany’s after? Of course a girl with curves can look sexy if she chooses, but the sexy look isn’t Dez’s choice.
And While Gunther Would be a GOOD Choice, I would strongly edge that Tiff would take Toni with Her, as She’s Just been itching to get a crack at Ann’s Face…..,
Ann has SO many enemies, and I hope this becomes a “lets all get Ann Awful, but good” strip, at least for awhile. I can’t think of a single person (other than Tiff’s dad) who has any affection for her and I’m sure his affection is all purely physical. I think both TJ and Tiff teaming up to lead the charge would be a hoot. Will we see a side of Prudence that is spiteful and vindictive when she finds out how she was had? I thoroughly enjoyed it when TJ took Ann down and she disappeared for a long time. And I still want to see Ann in an orange prison jumpsuit, all the while proclaiming her innocence while she is taken away in shackles ;-) She can always escape later and come back for more shenanigans. I’m not so sure Les knows what his mom is doing is a scam and illegal. He just knows she’s paying him well to be security at these events, there is no love lost between him and Ann…and he does seem to have some redeeming qualities about him. His character has softened quite a bit. Mr Gray…maybe he will send in a Vegas hit team on his sister. LOL!! Anything could happen with Ann having so many enemies! Greg Evans, this twist in the strip is great!! Can’t wait to see how it all plays out!

1) Will she do something simple, like talk with her Dad about it?

3) Will she simply go to the police?
I, of course, predict that Greg will have the group engage in some sort of “scheme”…. because it would likely be the most entertaining comic-wise.
It also is interesting that it appears that a) Tiffany may not have any clothing at the moment that is her current size other than her sweat clothes. I suggest this because it also appears that perhaps Dez is going to her own closet to bring some clothes for Tiffany to wear. If this transpires, it will be interesting:
1) Dez’s style is distinctly different from “typical” Tiffany style, so it will a) be interesting to see Tiffany dressed in a very different way, and b) it will be interesting to see Tiffany’s reaction to the different style.
2) If Dez’s style of clothing is used by Tiffany, it may be dramatically different enough that with a few other changes (such as pulling up her hair, not wearing makeup, etc), Tiffany could go “undercover” in this potential scheme…. if necessary.
Like I said earlier, I see an ’Ocean’s Eleven’ – (’Luann’s Eleven’)?? – possibly happening here. (It would be a reverse, as they would expose Ann, not steal from her).
Les may progress a good bit more – and his ’you’re good … and bad’ comment to his mom earlier would reinforce that – and join in. TJ might be one of the crew, maybe.
And where IS Luann anyway??!! HER parents own the place, and SHE bought the same junk, too!!
@WIZARDGOAT: There is a great rush these days to publish the results of ‘studies’ that involve a small, nonrandomly selected population, and call those studies ‘evidence based medicine’. Unfortunately, some of those who fund the studies happen to be Big Pharma companies that would benefit from the approval and sale of whatever pharmaceutical concoction they are producing. This is true for weight loss products, blood pressure meds, and the like. (I get to read some of these ‘studies’, as an investor. No, I’m not a scientist, but my brother who is fighting leukemia is, so a healthy dose of skepticism is in order…)

Since the insurance industry has become largely a for-profit entity (again, I get those reports as part of my IRA stuff), they are always eager to push their insureds onto the cheaper med (whether it actually works for them or not), and also eager to buy into whatever the latest ‘evidence based study’ says about the golden path toward (cheap) good health. I’ve never forgotten that for years the assumption was that women were ‘protected’ from heart disease by their hormones, so any woman who had a hysterectomy was automatically given estrogen. Someone finally tested that ‘fact’ and found that, not only were women having heart attacks at the same ages as men (just having different symptoms so it was tragically not recognized and treated in time), but that high dose estrogen caused tumor growth in breasts. Overnight, a huge industry involving the production of estrogen vanished.

Moral of the story is, we don’t know the whole story on what ‘being a responsible citizen’ is for health. What works for one does not work for all, and that includes weight. All too many people who dislike certain types of physiques are now using the ‘responsible citizen’ thing as a justification for looking down on people who are heavier than whatever is the ‘accepted norm’, or, for that matter, people who are thinner, or taller or shorter or wear glasses.
Not sure how Tiffany’s plan is supposed to work. Her dad is already ignoring her, so what makes her think that telling him nasty stories about his GF will change his mind? He’ll probably chalk it up to jealousy. Plus he doesn’t strike me as a guy to be overly concerned about the moral character of his girlfriends anyway. He blew off his kid for her entire life (apparently he considers money and gifts a suitable substitute for love and affection) so maybe he’s not the best person to trust to do the right thing. And even if he DID believe Tiffany, what exactly is he going to do? Breaking up with Ann doesn’t put a stop to her scamming. It doesn’t reimburse anyone or even address the problem they were initially complaining about.
So maybe these three dingbats should stop putting their eggs in this particular basket.
An outfit by Dez should give pudgy Tiff enough flare to get started, and with all this Eiffel Motivation, losing her temporary extra weight should be quick enough and easy enough. The Svelte Avenger is coming!
