During good times (Man: We're keeping most of the profits) During bad times (Man: You bear most of the losses. Buy stuff!) (Woman: Ok. We'll run up most of the debt.) (Man: We're cancelling most of your line of credit.) (Woman: We're mostly done with you.)

Definitely true - they rake in the profits and keep it - but when times are tough, they keep their high profits and simply whack the worker.

It’s the American Way.

Two suggestions: Erect a guillotine on the Washington Mall, with prime time beheadings broadcast in high definition.
Or: get legalized bribery out of our corrupt political system (remember a TV show called “The Untouchables?”).
While the guillotine idea would provide immediate gratification, the truth is that an unenlightened populace would, after the revolution, merely send new porkers to the governing trough.

What you do not like the “free” market?

I just love the way the American people are able to pull defeat from the jaws of victory.

jrmerm - maybe if we had had a president who was not an idiot cowboy and cared about all americans not just white ones then Katrina might not ever have happened. Those people needed help that day and FEMA/Bush/Halliburton did NOT deliver.

^ Let’s not go there… . Obama’s handling of the oil spill was sluggish, too. Though it didn’t have the same death toll, it was still a measure of ineptitude.

Yes, I always just keep getting older and more infirm, and do nothing to make a Faustian deal with the devil to restore my lost youth. Oh yeah, almost forgot. If I get laid off from my long-time job because of downsizing and there are no jobs available and the unemployment safety net has expired, and I’m even older and more infirm to boot, I do nothing to go out and invent the newest widget and get it patented and start a business so I can work at it 16 hours a day, seven days a week, and become a Republican just in time to die of exhaustion. I am the helpless, hopeless victim of sinister natural forces and always will be.

Next step: she goes to a Tea Party meeting and learns that it’s all the government’s fault and that’s where she should aim her second amendment remedy.

Jade, except for happening in the same area and both being preventable through better regulation, Hurricane Katrina & the B.P. oil spill have nothing in common.
Bush-Dick did little to help New Orleans, which was drowning. President Obama quickly assured us that B.P. would pay for the clean-up, and he sent a force down there to make it happen. Yes, his first information downplayed the situation, but that was what B.P. was telling him. There were no visuals immediately, unlike during Katrina.

Obama handled DP, I mean BP one jillion times more effectively than Shrub did Katrina.
