Some years ago one of those blooper anthology TV shows had a clip with an auto show spokesmodel demonstrating a car with voice recognition technology. She says “open” and the locked car door opens.

In the course of repeating the demo all day, she accidentally closes the door on a finger.

Her distress and pain alters the way she voices the “open” command… and the door won’t budge!

She has to regain emotional control and in her usual calm voice say the magic word. I was impressed with how quickly she managed to do this.

Nancy just would have blown the fifty dollars on more candy, anyway.

Hosts Ted and Janet: Hello. Me: Hello. Regarding the topic being discussed this is my opinion: Blah… blah… blah… Alert type sound effect: Alert! Hosts Ted and Janet: Well! You can pick up $68 if you can tell us what topic David Brudnoy was discussing on his talk show last night… Me: Wow! I was listening. Pause. I was shaving. Hosts Ted and Janet: Ha, ha! Me: Pause pause. Oh, oh, it’s coming back. Hosts Ted and Janet: We can only give you a bit more time… 3… 2… Me: Insurance! Sound effects: Crowd cheering wildly. Hosts Ted and Janet: You have $68 coming your way! Stay on the line and give your address to our producer. Me: Wow! $68!!!!

Back when fifty dollars meant something!

Reminds me of the pawn shop scene in “Trading Places”: “In Philadelphia, it’s worth 50 bucks.”

Of all the radio quiz shows, Radio Quiz Show was the best.

Nancy is steaming…..but hope the candy was worth it….

I once won a radio trivia call in – but we were on vacation in another city and I couldn’t stay and claim my free dinner!
