It is not too late. The Republicans if they really mean it can remove the current president with the 25th Amendment. Section 3 is for him to leave voluntarily. If refused section 4 has the means to remove him due to impairment or illness. That needs to be invoked now. Trump is in too vulnerable position to be let loose with his rants and anger and spur of the moment reactions. We are all in danger. But will the Republicans remove him for all our sakes not just here but the entire world?
