Instinct is much more the result of experience than it is innate, and I don’t think anyone instinctively looked at their wrist when asked the time until after the invention of wristwatches.

“Do you know what time it is?”

“I don’t even know what millennium it is!”

So, what might he have used – a wrist sundial??

Even Millennials don’t look at their wrists anymore.

I don’t even wear a watch anymore but I still look at my wrist
