According to the lore, size-changing (of themselves, and others) is one of the magical abilities of unicorns, so Marigold could do that now, and if Phoebe—in the timeline of the comic strip—ever did grow too big to ride her (which I hope never happens). It would be fun, though, if every now and then Marigold and Phoebe got involved in some pixie-related installment or story arc, at their minute scale, and:
I can imagine Florence, if she happened upon them, regarding her miniaturized sister and making an embarrassing—to Marigold—crack about her being the cutest “Pastel Unicorns” toy she’s ever seen, and/or (concerning their long-standing height measurements disagreement) “Well, dear sister, I am 1 unicorn tall after all—but you are only 0.0416667 unicorns tall!” :-) [1/24 scale height to the tips of Marigold’s ears when she’s standing, if a pixie is a 3" tall winged ‘human’]
Nice that she cares enough to ask. Too many real world riders on plain old horses completetely disregard the fact that they are sitting on another animal’s spine and that they shouldn’t weigh more than 20% of that animal’s own body weight.
Well see, it goes to show ya: I had many griefs and sorrows in my childhood, but I never had to worry about getting too big to ride my Unicorn. I will add that to my list of Things To Be Grateful For.

Humans seem to be evolving a tendency to grow larger than their parents. Perhaps in a few centuries that height will be normal.
