Well, this is going to get pretty.

I had guessed two arms would reach out and pull her inside.

Being a klutz and falling through the doorway may be better.

Hmmm… last time Tiffany opened the door like that it was to let/pull Gunther in. Did Tiffany open the door this time thinking it was Gunther on the other side again?

Card destroyed, but on the upside, Luann will never have looked better. Tiffany will be excited that Luann has finally taken her advice on the proper use of glitter.

I have no Idea of what’s next for Lu! r.i.p. the kid’s “we miss U” card.

Was the door being opened by somebody, or did Luann’s elbow cause the click?

Dang newfangled invention twarnt around in my dorm days.

“Oh… Hi, Gunther.

Hi, Tiff…

Um. Right. Well, I’ll come back later."

Luann will pop out of the wormhole on the other side of the campus in 3…, 2…, 1…

I still don’t understand how someone can ‘fall through’ a door that opens with a keycard…

So who is on the other side, besides, presumably, Tiffany? Gunther? Piro? A party to be named later? Tomorrow may tell.

When did Luann get her hair cut so short?

Luann was leaning on the door while writing the note. So she fell in when the door opened.

Tiffany saw “Kids First” shirt on Luann so she figured she just left from there and had something for her from there. Or she eavesdropped on Bernice and Luann’s conversation and wants to see the card.

The outcome tomorrow is a real grab bag. I’m glad this wasn’t Friday night where I would have to wait over the weekend to see what follows.

I doubt that the Evanses would go in this direction, but it occurred to me (based on my past experience as a one-time volunteer counselor on a crisis switchboard) that there may be a reason why a door that is normally locked is left unlocked. There has been debate here about exactly how depressed Tiffany is. Sometimes, a person in need of help can’t figure out any other way to reach out for it other than to try to take their own life, but truly doesn’t want to end that life, just the misery they are experiencing. So they take a step that shows how much they need help, but leave a way for someone to find them before it’s too late. With women, a way of doing that can be taking sleeping pills and leaving a note. If tomorrow’s ‘toon shows Luann shouting at Tiffany to ’wake up’, that may tell us if this is the direction the ’toon is going…

Not gonna happen.

Pretty good sequential storytelling- the mystery of the closed, suddenly opening door. Cliff-hanger. So many possible scenarios…

….and Tiffany’s all back to her normal self. I can’t think of any other reason for them to pad out the reveal like this, at least.

I think the door has been left unlocked because Tiffany moved out.

You would have to be a major contortionist to accidentally hit a doorknob and open a door while leaning on it. Try it – it’s impossible unless you bend down and put your elbow on it. The only way this would work is if the doorknob’s in the middle of the door.

Why have a “cliff hanger” on a Monday??? Thanksgiving weekend must have thrown this arc’s schedule into a tizzy!

OK. First, I don’t believe Lu actually pushed the door open. I believe Tiff (or whomever was inside) opened it. We’ll find out tomorrow. Second, I believe the card will survive, reasonably in tact. Third, I’d be disappointed if we found anyone else in there, other than Tiff, and if she was not in the same condition as when Gunther found her and left her the last time. I want to see how Lu handles the situation.

Perhaps, a little “maturity” may be forthcoming? On both sides?

Tiffany’s door has become a minor motif here. We’ve had rejection, vacuuming in, and, now, a graceless tumbling move.

Luann’s last name must have changed to Mason!….Because the door is now ajar.

Or maybe she went to the wrong door. Could this be the dorm suite of Dr. Who’s daughter….Christine Who?

Who’s door?  Yeah…I’m thinking so. Who’s major is interior design?  I’m pretty sure Who is majoring in it. 

Same punchline/sight gag with Gunther on 9/30

Lets use logic. If one looks at the panel closely, which I did when awake this morning it is clear that Luann accidentally pushed open a partially door that was not actually pushed all the way closed from the inside. The part of the lock that goes into the door frame had not totally made contact, so the locking mechanism was not engaged. When she pressed on the door to leave the note she accidentally pushed it open, hence losing her balance. As Argy noted above what this leads to is why was the door partially open, and what she will see in the dorm room. I hope its something funny, but I realize now that chances are better than even, given we are talking a depressed college-age student, that something very foreboding may be in store. And given that this is Luann’s story it makes sense she would discover it. And it also makes sense she would save Tiffany from a very dark fate again. Remember the pool incident? No this is going to be so big, and bring a lot of things together. As I always say stay tuned. Tiffany, lets hope you are okay.

Though, I wonder if it was just an accident on Lu’s part….or…a purposeful maneuver by Tiffany? After all, she’s been pretty reclusive…maybe she wanted to get the suspense of Luann’s purpose there (after her knocking and maybe calling out for her), out of the way….

1. She is dead – a suicide… Not likely in this strip.2. She is keeping Gunther hostage.3. She and Gunther eloped… MY FAVE

My morning pipe and coffee break commentary:

1) Did Tiffany OPEN the door or was the door not fully shut and Luann’s pressure on the door have it open?

2) If Tiffany opened the door…. did she do so knowing someone was there or did she simply open it to go outside?

3) If Tiffany only opened the door to go outside…. will she be 1) angry at Luann falling into her room, or 2) concerned that Luann has fallen into her room, or 3) touched and interested in the card that is apparently also falling into the room?

Relative to the upcoming new “Lingerie Party”…. I am not sure that Tiffany would be in the right state of mind to attend. If she is feeling distraught with body image issues (in addition to her emotions about her father), she may feel uncomfortable attending such a party. She may also not want to attend the party just because of her emotions about her father as well. So, we will have to see how this progresses.

It says “ZOO” on the door. What sort of animals are in there?

this whole storyline misses the point…if Tiffany is depressed, and especially depressed over body issues, the last thing to do is take her to a lingerie show….better to get her out of that room for a walk in the fresh air, or to the gym, or a walk to the gym…well you get the idea

The door was either: 1) unlocked from inside and slightly opened, 2) slightly unlatched to begin with and the slight push from Luann opened it, or, 3) not able to – as the door hardware trade would say – ‘be un-positively latchable’ where even if one thought a door was shut, it was easily able to be opened by a mere push (NOT acceptable for fire doors to stairs, etc., which this one is obviously not).

Any option, or others have yet to be known.

An alien Predator ate Tiffany and is about to swallow Luann, only to be disemboweled by Luann, who also revives a much slimmer Tiffany.

On reviewing all the above comments, I am amazed at what is so obviously clear to some people seems utterly impossible to me and vice versa. As I see it and what I believe the creators of the strip intended, the door was closed, locked. Luann was writing her note after no response to her knocking. Someone inside opened the door (hence the click of the door knob). Luann fell forward. We have no clue about who is inside or what their reaction will be. We can only speculate. Sheesh. Another nine hours before we learn what’s behind the door.

What I’d love to see is the whole cast of characters offering emotional support to Tiffany so that by Christmas holidays she will have recovered and found new resources, increased self esteem, a new outlook on life. Then I’d like to see her spend the Christmas break wit her father and his new bride who will turn out to be a warm and caring and supportive step mother helping Tiffany to overcome the deficits in her past.

Of course happy stable people don’t usually provide much excitement for stories.

Like Alice down the rabbit hole, Luann has fallen into the weird realm of overweight Tiffany. It is what happens next that will be interesting, after this little bit of introductory slapstick-pratfall….

This may be the second time Luann sees Gunther nude…

So, Tiff lives in a real dive.

So does Luann fall onto:

- a) Tiffany?

-b) Gunther?

-c) Piro?

-d) just the floor?
