The president is not allowed to accept gifts from foreign governments without permission from Congress. Government leaders and entities frequent his hotels, clubs and restaurants, Trump is in breach of the Emoluments Clause. The fear is that international officials will try to curry favor with Trump by patronizing his properties. One would hope that President Trump would take the necessary steps to avoid violating the Constitution before he took office. He did not. His constitutional violations are immediate and serious, so legal action is being taken.
Anybody who expected Trump to keep his oath to preserve and protect the Constitution should’ve talked to a few of his ex wives about them there sacred wedding vows……..
When Nixon was investigated for criminal wrongdoing in the ‘70s, there was discussion about whether the Special Prosecutor even HAD the power to ’indict’ a sitting President! While it was finally decided that he DID have that authority, it was also decided to turn Nixon’s fate over to his fellow political operatives, who, at the time, still had enough moral certitude to ‘judge’ one of their own! In the intervening years, Republicans in Congress have lost what few scraps of moral propriety they once might have still clung to ,so, if Mueller DOES develop a ‘case’ against Donnie, he (and America) would be much better served if he were to bring charges directly against the ‘president’ and totally ignore Congress!! America wants justice and closure, not a circus and a farce!
If there’s no statute of limitations on these crimes that could be affected before Donnie is out of office, just wait until he gets voted out. If he gets voted back into office, then prosecute. That way maybe we’ll only have to put up with for years of him. But anyhow you look at it I still don’t want to have Pence for a president. I’d rather see the Democrats or the Independents or the Green party , … Someone come up with a decent candidate that we can vote for instead. I’m a little tired of this lesser of two evils proposition.
